On the evening of August 25th, RBM-North hosted a special event that raised $405,000 which is approximately half the cost of a pediatric ambulance for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. The majority of funds came from Tommy Bagwell, owner of American Proteins in north Forsyth.
The money will help fund a fully outfitted pediatric ambulance which will reside at the Children’s location at the Avenue Forsyth on Peachtree Parkway. Hospital leaders estimate the cost of the vehicle at about $700,000 with an additional $300,000 needed to cover operating and maintenance costs. The specialized vehicle reduces response times which can make a significant difference in one child’s life. For example, standard ambulances don’t always have the specialized equipment needed for young patients, especially for infants who require an incubator.
Throughout the evening, over 400 people came to RBM-North to enjoy the festivities which included food from several area restaurants, wine tastings and a silent auction. Attendees also enjoyed the unveiling of several new 2012 Mercedes models. RBM-North General Sales Manager Peter Leavy introduced each vehicle to an enthusiastic reception.
